National Portrait Gallery features Curtis Holder’s drawing of Dame Judi Dench in special Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Decade display

An exhibition of portraits of Dame Judi Dench by past winners of the televised portraiture competition Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year will be displayed at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

Series 7 winner Curtis Holder’s large multilayered drawing of the iconic British actor will appear alongside artworks by Christian Hook, Gareth Reid, Duncan Shoosmith, Samira Addo, Christabel Blackburn, Calum Stevenson and Morag Caister.

The eight portraits were created as part of Portrait Artist of the Decade, a 10th anniversary episode of the popular Sky Arts TV programme in which eight previous winners reunited to create a portrait of Dame Judi Dench in only four hours.

The portraits can been seen downstairs in the Spotlight Space, Level -3 at the National Portrait Gallery in London from 19 October until 31 December, 2023.
