Artist Curtis Holder to speak at Drawing | Undercurrents symposium

I will be speaking at Drawing | Undercurrents, a one-day symposium held in association with the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2026, exploring drawing as a practice and its capacity to bring complex ideas, feelings and different perspectives to the surface.

The programme includes presentations, discussions and a practical drawing session, bringing together artists and drawing practitioners to consider different approaches to drawing.

My presentation, Brotherhood: Dialogue and Drawing, will focus on a durational portraiture project, part of a wider series made through conversations with Black men about shared experiences. Working with one sitter over several months, the project explored how an ongoing dialogue could shape a body of work that grew in scale, complexity and emotional content.

Convened by Anita Taylor, the symposium includes contributions from Alice Angus, Siân Bowen, Chloe Briggs, Matthew Burrows MBE and M. Lohrum, alongside Curtis Holder.

Drawing | Undercurrents takes place at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London, on Thursday 17 September 2026, from 11am–5pm, in association with the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2026.
