New drawings by Curtis Holder for sale to celebrate LGBT+ History Month

February is LGBT+ History Month and to mark the occasion I’m making a donation from the sale of selected works to The Proud Trust, a grassroots charity that empowers LGBT+ teenagers to live confident and happy lives.

The drawings will be available to buy from Sunday 07 February.

LGBT+ History Month is an annual celebration that provides education into the issues that the LGBT+ community faces. It’s main aim is to teach young people about the history of the gay rights movement and to promote an inclusive, safe modern society for everyone.

For most LGBT+ young people, growing up brings with it additional challenges. It’s something I touched on in a recent interview for Attitude magazine. As a Black gay kid growing up the 80s, drawing provided a safe place where I could escape from the worries of the world. I was also lucky to have an open-minded family who encouraged me to be my own person.

Not all young people are as lucky as I was! It’s thanks to the work of brilliant organisations like The Proud Trust, who offer teenagers support through youth groups, education and training, that many LGBT+ young people are able to make positive changes for themselves and their communities.

Enjoy the drawings!
