Curtis Holder announces solo exhibition ‘Portraits of Brotherhood’ at RBSA Gallery, Birmingham
I am excited to announce my solo exhibition Curtis Holder: Portraits of Brotherhood, showing at the RBSA Gallery, Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, from Tuesday 2 September to Saturday 13 September 2025.
The exhibition features over 20 works on paper, including large-scale multilayered portraits and a selection of exploratory pieces in coloured and graphite pencil. Located in the heart of Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter, the show offers intimate portrayals of Black and Brown men, each exploring themes of connection, identity, vulnerability, and resilience.
Drawn from deeply personal conversations with my sitters about their experiences and the common ground we share, this body of work reflects the complexities of race, masculinity, and belonging. Together, the drawings offer a multifaceted perspective of Black and Brown men that challenges prevailing societal stereotypes, inviting viewers to pause, look closely, and reconsider their own perceptions.
See Portraits of Brotherhood at RBSA Gallery, 4 Brook Street, St. Paul’s Square, Birmingham, B3 1SA from 2–13 September 2025. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30am–5pm.
