Curtis Holder exhibits in '‘Drawn to Dance: The Figure In Motion’ at RBSA Gallery, Birmingham

A selection of my drawings of Carlos Acosta, Director of the Birmingham Royal Ballet, will be on display at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) in Drawn To Dance: The Figure In Motion.

Drawn from life as part of my winner’s commission for Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year in 2020, these rapid gestural drawings capture the celebrated dancer in motion.

The exhibition is a collaboration between the RBSA and the Birmingham Royal Ballet, celebrating the artistry, dedication, and beauty of ballet. Visitors will also have the opportunity to view classical ballet costumes and rarely seen items from the Birmingham Royal Ballet’s collection.

The exhibition runs from February 10 to February 21, 2026, at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, 4 Brook Street, Birmingham, B3 1SA, and is free to visit Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
